National Center for Ethics in Health Care

Founded in 1991, the National Center for Ethics in Health Care's (NCEHC) main office is located at VA Central Office in Washington,  DC, with satellite offices in Seattle (Puget Sound Health Care System) and New York (VA New York Harbor Health Care System). Our multidisciplinary staff represent various fields including medicine, nursing, philosophy, law, policymaking, education, theology, social work, and health care administration. NCEHC activities and initiatives support clinical ethics, organizational ethics, and research ethics throughout VHA. Our publications bring health care ethics related news, best practices, and feature articles to audiences within and outside VHA.

Under the NCEHC's auspices VHA's National Ethics Committee provides analysis and guidance on controversial ethics issues affecting patients, providers, health care managers, and health policymakers in concise, practical reports.
