Weekly GCSS-Army Updates and News Stories: Week of 18 Feb 2013

This is the fourth of a series of weekly updates published for Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army) users. It addresses key topics that will help transition our Army to GCSS-Army. This week’s edition will address the Department of Defense Activity Address File (DoDAAC) Revision Process.

The GCSS-Army Program Manager (PM) completed the first Wave 1 Fielding Group in December 2012. Input from the field has resulted in a revision of the timeline to conduct data cleansing and DoDAAC realignments. This fielding highlighted the criticality of data clean-up actions required for a successful fielding of GCSS-Army. The Department of the Army G4, Supply Division, will publish specific guidance that extends the data cleansing timeframe to D-300 in order to allow units to complete all actions. Some specifics of the new policy follow:

What Has Been Done?

- The Army G-4 has designated the Army Logistics Support Activity (LOGSA) as the oversight authority for data cleansing to ensure units utilize the correct DoDAAC for the commodity managed and maintain accurate financial and supply ledgers.

- LOGSA Enterprise Data Management Office (EDMO) will validate GCSS-Army deployment dates with the gaining Command 340 – 360 days prior to deployment.

- The process begins at D-300 days with EDMO initiating contact with units to assist them in cleansing their logistics and financial data.

- Commands should utilize this time frame to identify unused DoDAACs for realignment to units needing a fuel DoDAAC.

- Commands can submit DoDAAC requests between D-300 and D-210 once they have ensured that DoDAACs are required and that they are ordering against the correct on hand DoDAACs. Each Command should complete the DoDAAC scrub and identify new DoDAAC requirements to LOGSA no later than D-210.

- EDMO will conduct their initial on-site visit at D-270.

- Each Command must support the DoDAAC realignment process by identifying dormant or inactive DoDAACs to LOGSA. The realignment process ensures the Army has “clean” DoDAACs to support future deployment operations.

- Each Command must have new DoDAACs (if required) in place, fuel cards properly aligned to the General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) fuel DoDAACs and a final GCSS-Army customer list, by DoDAAC, no later than D-180.

- Commands will continue to transition to Standard Price and Credit at D-90.

- GCSS-Army PM will publish a new deployment schedule in the April 2013 timeframe.

- The Army G4 will publish this DoDAAC Revision Process in the next GCSS-Army Deployment All Army Activities (ALARACT) message.
