Quick Reference Guide

Mission: Provide comprehensive women's health services to all eligible beneficiaries. The specific services provided are prenatal, intrapartum and postpartum care, cervical cancer screening, provision of family planning services, preconceptual counseling, infertility services, and diagnosis and treatment of gynecologic pathology.

Scope of Practice:

Outpatient care: Prenatal care for low risk and complicated pregnancies, family planning services, preconceptual counseling, infertility, well woman care including cervical cancer screening, and assessment and diagnosis of gynecologic pathology.

Outpatient treatments and activities: Obstetric ultrasound, non-stress testing, amniocentesis, urodynamics, colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, gynecologic skin biopsy, and infertility services such as intrauterine insemination.  We also offer contraceptive procedures including intrauterine device (IUD) insertion and removal, Nexplanon insertion and removal, hormonal birth control options (such as “the pill” and Depo injections), and diaphragm fitting.

Inpatient procedures and activities: Major and minor gynecologic surgeries; antepartum care of hospitalized pregnant women; intrapartum care including electronic fetal monitoring, amniotomy, induction and augmentation of labor, spontaneous and assisted vaginal birth, cesarean section, episiotomy with repair, repair of obstetric laceration, local and pudendal anesthesia, discharge planning; tocolysis.  

Preventive health care includes: Counseling and assisting patients in lifestyle choices including sexuality, substance use/abuse, nutrition, exercise, hormone replacement, self monitoring of breasts, skin and genitals; monitoring of health parameters such as blood pressure and weight with appropriate health screenings in accordance with current preventive care guidelines; screening, treatment and reporting of sexually transmitted disease; screening for domestic violence.

Patient education activities includes: Prenatal education classes including Breastfeeding and Childbirth Education and women’s health education offerings on an as needed basis.
