Medications can make a difference in regaining health and mitigating chronic conditions and Kenner Army Health Clinic pharmacy technicians specialize in providing the prescriptions you need. New prescriptions, refills, medication counseling are all available through Kenner's pharmacists.

Kenner Army Health Clinic is a full service operation for new prescriptions from military or civilian providers.

Our Mission is to Provide World Class Pharmaceutical Care by promoting optimal drug therapy and enhancing the medication delivery system to maintain medical readiness, and the health of Soldiers, family members and retirees.

If a medication is not available on Kenner's formulary, you may be able to obtain the medication through the National Mail Order Pharmacy. Check with TRICARE to see what benefits are available to you.

To learn which medications are available through the TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery or retail pharmacy benefit, please visit the TRICARE Formulary web site. Users may need to clear the cookies from their web browser to access the formulary.

NOTES: To ensure all prescriptions may be filled, the last new prescription ticket will be given 15 minutes prior to closing. For refill requests, call 735-9535 and refills may be picked up three working days later at Window No. 7. Refill window hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Refills can be picked up from other windows after this time but requires a ticket.

Pharmacy Services

Civilian prescriptions are filled if the pharmacy stock the drug(s) and the provider manually signs each prescription. A computer-generated signature or stamped signature is not acceptable according to Virginia State Law.Services are available for Active Duty service members and their family, as well as retirees and their family members. The patient's military ID card must be presented each time service is requested. Children aged 10 and over are required to have an ID card. Operating hours are from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., in order to process our patient load, the last pharmacy ticket is distributed at 5:30 p.m. Wait times are generally lowest from 6-9 a.m.

Refill Prescription Options

Refilled prescriptions are located at window no. 7, and requite the patients ID card for pick up. The pharmacy has a mandatory call-in refill process. The fully automated refill system is available 24/7 by calling 804-734-9535.

Refills should be ordered at least five business days before the medication runs out preventing unintended medication disruptions. Refills are processed within 72 business hours after they are requested. Refills that have not been picked up within 10 days after being requested will be returned to stock. A pharmacy wait ticket may be necessary for these medications.

Self-Care

A limited number of over the counter medicaitons are available to eligible beneficaries.

Prescritpion Drop-Off Service

Patients with handwritten (paper) prescriptions may drop off their prescriptions for processing and pick up after 10 a.m. the following business day at window no. 7. Mail Order Delivery

Patients can have a three-month supply of medication mailed directly to their home using the Express-Scripts service. Most generic medications do not have a copay, while brand or off formulary medicationi may charge a small copay. For more information, call (877) 363-1303 or visit www.express-scripts.com.

Electronic Prescriptions

Off-post physcian offices can now choose to electronically send prescriptions to KAHC instead of using paper prescriptions. To take advantage of this service, ask your doctor to electronically send prescriptions to: DoD Fort Lee e-Pharmacy in their electronic pharmacy database.

Presription Transfer Service

KAHC prescription transfer service is available Monday-Friday during business hours. Currently, we can only accept transfers from other military treatment facilitiies. To use our transfer service, please fill out a Prescription Transfer Form-website.docxPrescription Transfer Form-website.docx for each of your medicaitons, and bring the completed form (top portion only) into the pharmacy. You may need your medication bottles to provide all the information required. Please allow 72 business hours for transfers to occur. After the transfer is complete, you'll receive a phone call and will be able to pick up your medication from the refill window without a ticket.  

Additional Information

Identification procedures: the patient does not need to be present to pick up a prescription. However, their designee must bring the patient's ID card or a copy, both front and back, of the card to verify eligiblity.

Costs

Pharmacy costs are based on whether the prescription is classified as a formulary generic (Tier 1), formulary brand name (Tier 2) or non-formulary (Tier 3) drug, and where you choose to have your prescription filled. Below is an overview of prescription costs:

Military Treatment Facility (MTF) Pharmacy

  • $0 copayment for up to a 90-day supply of most medications.
  • Not all medications are available at MTF pharmacies. Call first to check availability.

TRICARE Mail Order Pharmacy

  • $0 for generic formulary medications
  • $16 for brand-name formulary medications
  • $46 for non-formulary medications

May receive up to a 90-day supply of most medications for these copayments

TRICARE Retail Network Pharmacy

  • $10 for generic formulary medications
  • $25 for brand-name formulary medications
  • $50 for non-formulary medications

May receive up to a 30-day supply of most medications for these copayments.

You'll pay more to have prescriptions filled at non-network pharmacies and costs vary depending on who you are and which health plan you are using (e.g. TRICARE Prime, TRICARE Standard, TRICARE For Life). There is not a copay for Active Duty military members.
