557th Weather Wing

The 557th Weather Wing is an Air Combat Command unit under 12th Air Force. It is the only weather wing in the U.S. Air Force and is comprised of more than 1,450 active duty, reserve, civilian and contract personnel. Its mission is to maximize America's power through the exploitation of timely, accurate and relevant weather information; anytime, everywhere.

Air Combat Command

Air Combat Command, located at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., is a major command created June 1, 1992, by combining its predecessors Strategic Air Command and Tactical Air Command. ACC is the primary provider of air combat forces to America's warfighting commanders. It also provides global implementation of national security strategy and operates fighter, bomber, reconnaissance, battle-management and electronic-combat aircraft. In addition, the unit provides command, control, communications and intelligence systems, and conducts global information operations.

12th Air Force

12th Air Force (Air Forces Southern), located at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Ariz., is responsible for two equally important missions. First, in the traditional numbered air force role as 12th AF, the organization reports to Air Combat Command to organize, train, and equip U.S. Airmen to be deployed for global military operations. Second, in the role of Air Forces Southern, the organization serves as the air component to U.S. Southern Command, responsible for providing air and space capabilities in support of U.S. military involvement and partnerships across Central America, South America and the Caribbean.
