Burnsville Lake to Offer an Open House

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces an Open House and tour of the dam at Burnsville Lake on Sunday, Sep. 1, 2013, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. The tours are free to the public.

Visitors will meet Burnsville Lake’s staff, agencies and volunteers. The Open House will include information about Bulltown Historic Area, presentations by the Department of Natural Resources, local law enforcement, first and rescue personnel, there will be water safety programs and goodies for the kids, and visits with Bobber the Water Safety Dog and Corey the Water Safety Boat. Also, free popcorn will be offered at the Burnsville Docks Marina!

To take part in the tour, adults must have identification, no bags or purses are permitted inside the dam and no photos or videotaping is allowed inside the dam.

Yatesville Lake to Offer Open House

   The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Yatesville Lake will offer an open house to the public on Aug. 16, 2013, from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m.. All members of the public are encouraged to attend. 

   Visitors will tour the intake structure at Yateville Lake to learn about how the dam helps reduce the negative impacts of flood damage. Corps team members will be on hand to answer questions, explain the role of the Corps in the community, and to help educate the public about water safety.
