Sutton Lake’s Gerald Freeman Campground will open for 2013 Recreation Season

Thursday, December 27th, 2012

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Sutton Lake in Sutton, W.Va., announced today that Gerald R. Freeman Campground will be open for the 2013 Recreation Season. The campground is scheduled to open April 19, 2013, with sites available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Campers planning visits after May 22, 2013, may make reservations thru the National Recreation Reservation Service, beginning March 1, 2013.

In the past, reservations could be made six months prior to a visit, with reservations for Memorial Day Weekend beginning in late November. However, due to ongoing construction and upgrades in Gerald R. Freeman Campground, the reservation window will not open until March 1.

The upper section of the campground will have 30 sites with 50 amp electric service, and water and sewage hook-ups. Five sites will have electric and water hookups. Two sites are Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant. Two additional ADA-compliant sites are currently under construction. In the lower section of the campground, several sites are being leveled and the electric service is being upgraded.

By March 1, the staff at Sutton Lake will know what sites will be available for the 2013 Recreation Season. At that time, as many sites as possible will be available for reservation with accurate site details and fee information.

To make a reservation at any Corps of Engineers campgrounds, call the National Recreation Reservation Service at 877-444-6777 or go to www.recreation.gov.
