Joint Exercises

French military - fighter pilots- with phantom jetAtterbury-Muscatatuck, including Jefferson Range, offers flexible, adaptable platforms for best-experience joint exercises. Whether national, interagency, multi-national, or layered, the training is some of the best available. Examples:

From 17-30 April 2016, the Indiana National Guard and Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center hosted Cyber Shield 2016.  Visit the Cyber Shield Page. More than 1000 participants from 47 states participated in the event from both the Army and Air National Guard, Army Reserve, and Marine Corps Reserve, which is more than double the participation of 2015 and triple that of 2014.  The thoughtful integration of Industry Partners into teams alongside their military counterparts served to increase the realism of the event.

For the last several years, the training facilities at Atterbury-Muscatatuck have played host to Vibrant Response, a major field training exercise conducted by U.S. Northern Command and led by U.S. Army North. Service members and civilians from the military and other federal and state agencies throughout the country come to Atterbury-Muscatatuck during Vibrant Response for realistic disaster-response training. November 2014 brought an important insertion phase of Bold Alligator to the Atterbury-Muscatatuck facilities. See story. See Marine Corps Website story. Operation Bold Alligator 14 (a large-scale, multinational naval amphibious exercise conducted by US Fleet Forces and Marine Corps Forces Command). The national profile was 29 Oct -10 Nov  in multiple locations from Virginia to Florida, including Indiana. Approximately 7,000 US Marines and Sailors aboard 15 ships, plus 1,000 service members from partner countries participated.

October of 2014 saw Iron Express 15.1 successfully integrate Air and Army Guard units with SOF members from Sweden, for an unbeatable combination of live-virtual-constructive scenarios including JTAC and CAS taskings. Several iterations are scheduled over the coming years.Visit Iron Express page.

Operation Northern Strike was facilitated at Atterbury-Muscatatuck in August 2014. Northern Strike is an exercise emphasizing the integration of joint fires capabilities that include fixed wing joint terminal attack controller and assets from the Air National Guard with helicopter, artillery and other assets from the Army National Guard. While the bulk of the exercise occured in Michigan, Atterbury hosted an extension of it which  included the Indiana, Michigan and West Virginia National Guards, taking advantage of specific training capabilities that Atterbury had to offer.
