Command Sergeant Major Richard R. Clark is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida, and entered the U.S. Army on April 4, 1989.
During his 27 years of service, Command Sgt. Maj. Clark has served in every leadership position in the Airborne Infantry from team leader to his most recent job as the 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat (Airborne) command sergeant major. His first assignment as a brigade command sergeant major was with the 4th Brigade, 1st Armored Division at Fort Bliss, Texas. He has also served as an observer controller on the Tarantula Team (Airborne) at the National Training Center and Ranger instructor at the Florida Ranger Camp. He has also served in the 1st Armored Division, 2nd Infantry Division, 10th Mountain Division, and multiple tours in the 82nd Airborne Division. He assumed his present duties in March 2016.
He has completed all levels of the Noncommissioned Officer Education System to include the First Sergeants and Battle Staff Courses. He is a graduate of Class 57 of the U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy.
Command Sgt. Maj. Clark's operational deployments include Operation's Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and New Dawn. He has also served during Operation Unified Response in support of Humanitarian Assistance to Haiti, Multinational Force and Observers in the Sinai Peninsula, Joint Task Force Bravo in Honduras, and several reciprocal unit exchanges to Oman and Germany.
His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with two oak leaf clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with six oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters. He also holds the Ranger tab, Master Parachutist badge, Pathfinder badge, Air Assault badge, and both Expert and Combat Infantryman's badges. He has also attended Survival Evasion Resistance Escape (Level C), Air Movement Operations; Drop Zone Support Team Leaders Course, Joint Firepower Control Course, Battalion and Brigade Pre-Command Course and Development Course. Additionally, he has been awarded several foreign Parachutist badges to include Italian, Israeli, German, Cameroon, Australian, Kuwaiti, Egyptian, Pakistani and Jordanian. He has also been awarded the German Sports and Marksmanship badges.
Command Sgt. Maj. Clark is a member of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club, awarded the Order of St. Maurice (Centurion) for his contributions to the Infantry, Order of St. George (Bronze) for his demonstrated commitment to the Armor community during his tenure as an armored brigade command sergeant major, Order of St. Barbara for his tireless work in developing forward observers, and recognized as a Distinguished Member of the 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment and 503rd Infantry Regiment.
Command Sgt. Maj. Clark has continued his civilian education during his tenure in the Army and earned a master's degree from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2013.

クラーク最先任上級曹長は入隊してからの27年間、小規模部隊の班長から前職の第173歩兵旅団戦闘団（空挺）の最先任上級曹長に至るまで様々な空挺・歩兵科の要職を歴任しました。旅団最先任上級曹長としての初任地は、テキサス州フォート・ブリスに拠点を置く第1機甲師団第4旅団でした。また、ナショナルトレーニングセンターにてタランチュラチーム（空挺）の評価分析官、フロリダレンジャーキャンプにてレンジャー教官を務めました。さらに、第1機甲師団、第2歩兵師団、第10山岳師団での勤務経験を有し、第82空挺師団にも数回配属されました。2016年3月より現職に着任しました。
クラーク最先任上級曹長は、中隊先任上級曹長課程や戦闘幕僚課程等の下士官教育課程を全て修了しました。また、米陸軍上級曹長学校を第57期生として卒業しました。
クラーク最先任上級曹長はイラクの自由作戦、不朽の自由作戦、新たな夜明け作戦を含む派遣経験を有しています。また、ハイチの人道支援活動（オペレーション・ユニファイド・レスポンス）、シナイ半島駐留多国籍軍監視団、ホンジュラスに駐留する統合任務部隊ブラボー（JTF-B）にも従事しました。加えて、オマーン及びドイツと部隊間交流なども実施しました。
受章した勲章等には勲功勲章、青銅星章（3回）、功績勲章（7回）、統合軍務称賛章、陸軍功労章（3回）、統合軍務遂行賞、陸軍任務遂行章（3回）、レンジャー記章、上級空挺記章、降着誘導員記章、航空強襲記章、優秀歩兵記章、戦闘歩兵記章があります。また、生存・回避・抵抗・脱出課程（レベルC）、空中機動作戦、降下場支援チームリーダー課程、統合火力統制課程、大隊及び旅団長・最先任上級曹長準備課程並びに育成課程を修了しました。さらに、イタリア、イスラエル、ドイツ、カメルーン、オーストラリア、クウェート、エジプト、パキスタン、ヨルダン等の外国部隊より空挺記章を授与されました。また、ドイツ体力記章及び射撃記章も受章しています。
クラーク最先任上級曹長は、オーディー・マーフィー軍曹クラブのメンバーです。歩兵科に貢献したとしてセント・モーリス（センチュリオン）勲章を、機甲旅団最先任上級曹長としての在職期間中に職務への献身的な姿勢が評価され、セント・ジョージ勲章（銅）を授与されました。また、前方観測者の育成に対する不断の努力が認められ、セント・バーバラ勲章も受章しています。さらに、第325空挺歩兵連隊及び第503歩兵連隊から優秀隊員として表彰されています。
クラーク最先任上級曹長は軍務に従事しながら民間教育を継続した結果、2013年にエルパソのテキサス大学より修士号を取得しました。
