Soldier Power is a key enabler for dismounted combat operations. As such, CERDEC Command, Power and Integration Directorate continues to develop smaller, lighter expeditionary power and energy solutions. The solution will help sustain the small unit throughout extended missions in remote and austere environments while freeing up real estate around the body so Soldiers can carry other mission-essential equipment such as ammunition, rations or other electronics.
This summer at CERDEC’s C4ISR Ground Activity, CP&I assessed five emerging technologies that addressed Small Unit power gaps defined by the Army Maneuver Center of Excellence. The work will help define and inform technology requirements for follow-on development.
CP&I is leveraging these paradigm-shifting solutions to maintain the tactical edge, increase mobility and agility, and ultimately enable an energy self-sufficient Net Zero Soldier.
