Chief of the Army Reserve (CAR), LTG Luckey, visits Devens Reserve Forces Training Area
The CAR discussed his vision for the USAR and his key points were:
- Importance of building and sustaining a credible and lethal Reserve Force
- Emerging threats from near peer competitors with nuclear, naval, aviation and hypersonic capabilities
- The direction in which he will guide the USAR will be based on his assessment of the existential threat and the USAR's responsibilities
- LTG Luckey is currently evaluating the USAR's capabilities, readiness and lethality and encouraged leaders to find ways to empower the team and make the USAR better able to respond to contingencies and threats
- He emphasized "sustainable readiness" and that demographics be considered based on the sustainable future of the USAR. Evaluate trends that drive us to make force structure decisions and the likelihood for future recruiting and retention. Station of units based on filling the rank with low density MOS and not necessary on training capabilities
LTG Luckey also met with Soldiers from the 443d CA BN and when asked about leadership tips, he stressed the tenants of the Soldiers creed and emphasized Leadership, Energy and Execution. He told the team that USAR Soldiers are the connection between the American people and the military and that we serve the people of the United States.
