Naval Sea Cadets Train at Ft. Devens

On 04 JUL 16, 150 young men and women between the ages of 14 and 17 reported to Ft. Devens for Recruit Training Command New England with the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps.  This 13-day training is designed to instruct new members in all phases of the United State Naval Sea Cadets.  The recruits’ day begins at 0500 with reveille, and is packed with classroom instruction, physical fitness, uniform preparation, swim qualifications, and the Ft. Devens obstacle course.  Recruits receive classroom instruction in Naval History, Military Justice, Naval Core Values, Watchstanding, Seamanship, and Department of Defense Rates and Ranks to name a few.  In addition to classroom instruction, recruits learn the finer points of military drill, color guard presentation, and guidon presentation.  Divisions competitions include: dress white inspection, damage control Olympics, obstacle course, military drill, color guard and guidon presentation, and academics.  The honor division will be named at graduation on 16 JUL 16.

Congress federally chartered the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps in 1962. Today the organization has almost 400 units and approximately 9,000 young men and women enrolled in its program.  For more information visit www.seacadets.org.
