The Hunters

Every year, thousands of local and regional hunters visit the installation. We experience 40,000 to 50,000 hunter-attempts per year! Between the 120 separate hunting areas on Fort Stewart and the 11 areas on Hunter AAF, there's always enough room to accommodate all theses hunters.

Fort Stewart maintains an excellent safety record. When all areas are open, the installation can accommodate over 2,300 hunters.

The installation permits the use of bird dogs, and squirrel dogs.

Feral hogs offer variety to the hunting experience at Fort Stewart. This is a "feral" species which means that it is a domesticated hog that has "turned wild" after several generations of "wandering through the woods" of southeast Georgia.
