Mr. Steven B. Hood
Deputy to the Commander

  Mr. Steve Hood assumed duties as the US Army Garrison Devens (DRFTA) Deputy to the Garrison Commander (DGC) in December, 2015.  Prior to this assignment, he served as the Chief of Operations, Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security (DPTMS) for USAG Bavaria in Germany.

Mr. Hood’s service as a Department of the Army Professional spans over 30 years.  In 2007 he retired from Active Duty with 22 years of service and immediately began a career as a Civilian Army Professional with the Installation Management Command in the Europe Region. In Germany, Mr. Hood contributed directly to the day to day operations of four noncontiguous locations under a singular construct which collapsed three United States Army Garrisons into one as a result of transformation in Europe initiatives.

Mr. Hood holds a degree in Liberal Studies from Barton County Community College and is currently taking advantage of his post 9/11 GI Bill educational benefits to pursue subsequent educational opportunities.  Mr. Hood has also completed the Army Management and Staff College Advanced CES course and the Installation Management Command’s DPTMS signature course. Mr. Hood is a Department of the Army certified EEO Counselor and has served as a collateral duty counselor in the past.

Mr. Hood’s civilian awards include the Civilian Superior Service Award and has twice been awarded the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service. His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (7 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (6 OLC), Combat Action Badge, and the Air Assault Badge. Mr. Hood participated in expeditionary campaigns in both Kosovo and in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was inducted into the prestigious Sergeant Morales Club in 2000 and received the Military Police Regiment’s Order of the Marechaussee in 2007.
