Our Mission:
The Public Affairs Officer advises the commander and executes the commander's Public Information, Media Relations, Community Relations, and Command Information missions. PAO has sole release authority and acts as spokesman for the command. PAO's function is to provide timely, accurate, and truthful communication about the command and its activities to soldiers, family members, retirees, and the American public.
Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield are non-public news gathering forums and as such, all civilian media must have approval and an escort prior to entering Fort Stewart or Hunter Army Airfield. Certain events require concurrence of established ground rules. Failure to provide concurrence may exclude a media agency from the event. The PAO makes arrangements to meet civilian media prior to their arrival at Fort Stewart or Hunter Army Airfield.
Media interested in covering Fort Stewart activities should call the Media Relations Office at (912) 435-9879 or (912) 435-9881 to arrange for an escort and to obtain detailed information regarding upcoming media opportunities.
