MG Morrison

Major General John B. Morrison, Jr. assumed duties as the Commanding General, U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon on August 26, 2016.

Major General Morrison, Jr. received his commission through ROTC at James Madison University in Virginia where he graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, majoring in marketing. He also holds a Master of Science Degree in Telecommunications Management from Webster University and a Master of Strategic Resourcing from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF).

His military education includes Signal Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Tactical Signal Officer’s Staff Course, and the Advanced Airborne (Jumpmaster) School. In addition to ICAF, Major General Morrison is a graduate of both the Command and General Staff College (CGSC) and the Joint Forces Staff College.

His initial assignments were as Platoon Leader and Assistant S-3 in the 1st Signal Battalion, 7th Signal Brigade, in Kaiserslautern, Germany. He later commanded B Company, 1st Signal Battalion and deployed as part of the 93rd Signal Brigade, VII Corps, during the Persian Gulf War. In 1992, he was assigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, as the Assistant Brigade S-3, 35th Signal Brigade (Airborne) and then as the Assistant Operations Officer for the 50th Signal Battalion (Corps, Forced Entry, Airborne) where he participated in the Hurricane Andrew relief effort in Florida and provided support for Operation Uphold Democracy. In 1995, he served as an intern in the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and as an Action Officer on the Army Staff (G-8) in the Pentagon. After CGSC, he served as the Deputy G-6, 1st Cavalry Division and Multi-National Division (North) in Bosnia-Herzegovina and later as the Battalion S-3 for the 13th Signal Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. He then served in the Command, Control, Communications, and Computers Systems Directorate (J-6), Joint Staff, in Washington DC. Later, he commanded the 13th Signal Battalion (Task Force Mercury) supporting the 1st Cavalry Division and Task Force Baghdad in Iraq. In 2005, he served as the Signal Branch Chief, Human Resources Command, in Alexandria, Virginia, and later commanded the globally deployed Joint Communications Support Element (Airborne) from 2007-2009. At the Pentagon, he was the Executive Officer, Army CIO/G-6 from 2009-2010, and LandWarNet/Mission Command Director in the Department of the Army G-3/5/7 from 2010 to 2012. He served as the Commanding General for the 7th Signal Command (Theater), Fort Gordon, from 2012-2014. From 2014-2016, Major General Morrison served as the Commanding General for the United States Army Network Enterprise Technology Command at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.

Major General Morrison is married to the former Ann Graves, and they have four wonderful daughters – Christine, Kate, Colleen, and Kelly – a son-in-law, Andrew, and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn.

Deputy to the Commanding General

Mr. Robert V. Kazimer

Mr. Robert V. Kazimer assumed duties as the Deputy to the Commanding General, U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon on February 21, 2016.
Born in Meriden, Connecticut, he graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, and was commissioned as an Engineer Second Lieutenant in June 1978. Colonel Kazimer retired from the Army on February 1, 2007 after more than 28 years of active service. He culminated his service as the Director, Business Mission Area, Office of the Deputy under Secretary of the Army, Washington DC.

Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Kazimer served for more than five years as the Director of Corporate Information and Chief Information Officer for the US Army Corps of Engineers where he led worldwide IT service delivery. In prior assignments he served as Director, Governance, Acquisition, and Chief Knowledge Officer, HQDA CIO/G-6; Director, Business Mission Area, Office of the Deputy Under Secretary of the Army; Chief, Pacific Division, Center for Army Analysis, Ft. Belvoir, VA; Chief, Plans Division, HQDA, G-1; Deputy Director, Plans, Resources, and Operations, HQDA, G-1; Chief, Strategic Studies and Analysis, U.S. Strategic Command, Omaha, NE and the Chief, Operations Analysis, U.S. Forces Korea, Seoul, Korea.

Mr. Kazimer holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree with Nuclear Engineering concentration from the United States Military Academy, West Point. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School with a Master of Science degree in Operations Research and Systems Engineering.

Mr. Kazimer’ s awards and decorations include the Civilian Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, South West Asia Service Medal; Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia and Kuwait), Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist Badge, and the Army Staff Identification Badge. Mr. Kazimer was awarded the Silver de Fleury Medal by the Engineer Regiment.

Command Sergeant Major Carlos M. Simmons serves as the Command Sergeant Major of the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon, GA.

His previous assignments include Command Sergeant Major, National Ground Intelligence Center, Charlottesville, VA; Command Sergeant Major, 532nd Military Intelligence Battalion, 501st Military Intelligence Brigade, Republic of Korea and Command Sergeant Major, 3rd Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (AASLT), Fort Campbell, KY.

CSM Simmons has a Bachelor’s of Science in Professional Studies from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN.

COL Anderson BiographyCOL Sam Anderson

COL Sam Anderson assumed duties as Chief of Staff, U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon, GA on July 13, 2016. Prior to his current position, COL Anderson was the Garrison Commander at Fort Gordon.

COL Anderson graduated from Virginia Military Institute in 1990 and was commissioned in the Signal Corps. He was first assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, NY, and later to the 10th Signal Battalion, 10th Mountain Division.

COL Anderson next commanded C Company, 369th Signal Battalion, 15th Signal Brigade at Fort Gordon. Following company command, he was the Battalion Signal Officer for 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Lewis, WA. He was then assigned as the S3 for the Joint Communications Unit at Fort Bragg, NC. He subsequently served as an S3 in the Office of Military Support and then as a signal squadron commander in U.S. Army Special Operations Command. In 2008, COL Anderson assumed command of the 112th Signal Battalion (Special Operations) (Airborne). From 2010-2012, he commanded the Joint Communications Unit.

COL Anderson’s operational experience includes Operation Restore Hope in Somalia, service in Bosnia,and multiple tours in the CENTCOM area of operations in support of IRAQI and ENDURING FREEDOM.

COL Anderson’s military education includes the Field Artillery Basic Course, Signal Officer Advanced Course, Army Command and General Staff College, and the National War College.

COL Anderson’s military decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), and Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC). CW5 Chavez is the second Command Chief Warrant Officer (CCWO) of the Cyber Center of Excellence assuming the position on 23 June 2016. He enlisted in the US Army on 27 May 1988. He attended Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma.

His enlisted assignments include the 1/15th FA BN, 2nd IN DIV, Camp Casey, Korea; the 1st PSG, HHC, USAG, Fort Lewis, WA; the 58th SIG BN, 516th SIG BDE, Okinawa, Japan; the 442nd SIG BN, 15th SIG BDE, Fort Gordon, GA. He was promoted to his highest enlisted rank of Sergeant First Class in July 1999. In October 1999, he applied for and was accessed as an Army Warrant Officer. He attended the Warrant Officer Candidate School at the Warrant Officer Career College, Ft. Rucker, AL followed by the 251A Warrant Officer Basic Course at Ft. Gordon, GA.

CW5 Chavez Warrant Officer duty assignment was with the 3/2 Stryker Brigade Ft. Lewis, WA where he served as the Assistant Brigade S6. During this assignment, he deployed to Mosul, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His next duty assignment was with the 1st Corps G6, Ft Lewis, WA where he served as the Telecommunications Officer in charge of the Corps Frequency Management Office and the Corps COMSEC Facility.

His third duty assignment was with the United States Army Southern European Task Force (USASETAF), Vicenza, Italy where he served as the Senior Technical Advisor and Information Assurance Manager. His next duty assignment was with the 21st Theater Sustainment Command (TSC), Kaiserslautern, Germany where he served as the G6 Senior Technical Advisor and Information Assurance Manager. During this assignment, Chief Chavez submitted an application packet for the new MOS 255S – Information Protection Technician and was ultimately selected to attend the 255S course at Ft. Gordon, GA in January 2011.

Upon graduation from the 255S Course, he was assigned to his fifth duty assignment with the United States Cyber Command (USCC), Ft. Meade, MD where he served in the J33 as the Senior Technical Advisor and Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) Mission Lead. Additionally, he served as the DCO Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the USCC Cyber Force Implementation Strategy Team where he was responsible for developing the DCO portion of the Cyber Force Concept of Employment and establishment of the Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Protection Teams (CPT).

He was then reassigned to his most recent duty assignment with the United States Army Cyber Protection Brigade (USACPB), Ft. Gordon, GA where served as the Senior Warrant Officer and Technical Advisor to the Brigade Commander and Staff focusing on providing forces for Defensive Cyberspace Operations and planning support to Army and Combatant Commands world-wide in order to ensure freedom of action in and through cyberspace and to deny the same to our adversaries. Additionally, he was responsible for providing Senior Warrant Officer Leadership and Mentorship to the 156 Warrant Officers assigned to the unit comprised of several branches including Cyber, Signal, Military Intelligence, and Quartermaster.

CW5 Chavez has attended the Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC), Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course (BNCOC), Advanced Non-Commissioned Officer Course (ANCOC), Warrant Officer Candidate School (WOCS), Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC), Warrant Officer Advance Course (WOAC), Warrant Officer Staff Course (WOSC), and the Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course (WOSSC).

His major military awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (6 OLC), and the Combat Action Badge. He is also the recipient of the Signal Corps Regimental Association Bronze Order of Mercury.
