PRIVACY ACT STATEMENT


Authority: 10 U.S. Code 1784 Employment Opportunities for Military Spouses and DoDI 1342.22 “Military Family Readiness”.

Principal Purpose(s): The Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) Career Portal is the sole web platform utilized to connect military spouses with companies seeking to hire military spouse employees. MSEP is a component of the DoD Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO) Program which is the primary source of education, career and employment counseling for all military spouses.

Routine Use(s): In addition to those disclosures generally permitted under 5 U.S.C. 552a(b) of the Privacy Act of 1974, as amended, the records contained herein may specifically be disclosed outside the DoD as a routine use pursuant to 5 U.S.C. 552a(b)(3) as follows: To authorized DoD SECO contractors and grantees for the purpose of responding to military spouse need. To authorized DoD contractors and grantees for the purpose of supporting research studies concerned with the education, career and employment counseling of military spouses participating in DoD funded spousal education, career and employment programs. To local law enforcement entities for the purpose of intervention to prevent harm to the individual (self) in accordance with DoD/military branch of service and component regulations and established protocols. Any release of information contained in this system of records outside the DoD under a routine use will be compatible with the purpose(s) for which the information is collected and maintained. The DoD Blanket Routine Uses set forth at the beginning of the Office of the Secretary of Defense compilation of systems or records notices may apply to this system.

Disclosure: Voluntary; however, failure to provide some information may impact your ability to utilize certain program opportunities.

The public reporting burden for this collection of information is estimated to average 25 minutes per response, including the time for reviewing instructions, searching existing data sources, gathering and maintaining the data needed, and completing and reviewing the collection of information. Eligibility

Who is eligible to use the MSEP Career Portal?

Military spouses meeting the following criteria are eligible to use the MSEP Career Portal:

-Spouses of active duty, National Guard and reserve component military members in the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard.

-Spouses of military members separated from active duty, National Guard and reserves for less than 180 days.

-Surviving spouses of military members who died while on active duty.


Your username may include letters, numbers, spaces, periods, hyphens, apostrophes, and underscores.
All e-mails from the system will be sent to this address. The e-mail address is not made public and will only be used if you wish to receive a new password or wish to receive certain news or notifications by e-mail.

Why is there a 15 letter character password requirement for the MSEP Career Portal?

To maintain the privacy and security of our users, DoD policy requires passwords to meet the following criteria:

- Password must differ from the username
- Password must contain at least one lower case character
- Password must contain at least one upper case character
- Password must contain at least one special character
- Password must contain at least one number
- Password must be at least 15 characters in length
- Password cannot match the last 10 passwords used
- Password cannot be based on a dictionary word (e.g. Computerized11#)

Provide a password for the new account in both fields.
