Enforces all laws and regulations of all FSGA/HAAF natural and cultural resources, personnel and assets. Also provides security to installation training.
Area of Responsibility: Covers 280,000 acres on (FSGA) and 5,000 acres (HAAF), 755 miles of roads/tank trails, and 99 miles of unfenced boundary. CLEB is also responsible for Marine patrols of 265 miles of freshwater rivers/streams, 12 miles of saltwater river and 22 ponds.
THE USE OF OFF ROAD VEHICLES SUCH AS DIRT BIKES AND ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES (3 AND 4 WHEELS) ARE PROHIBITED ON FORT STEWART AND HUNTER ARMY AIRFIELD, GA.
Pass & Permit Office
A new Soldier should visit the Pass and Permit Office at 2677 Hwy 144 east, building 8096 (our building), as soon as possible after they arrive. Not just because they hunt or fish, but for any outdoor opportunity such as berry picking, nature watching, hiking, etc. Pass and Permit sells everything that they need to visit the rear areas that are open for recreation.
Hunting/Fishing on Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield
To hunt on FS/HAAF the Soldier will need a NRA approved hunter safety course (any state course is accepted), a FS hunting permit, a Georgia hunting license, and a big game license if hunting deer or turkey. A big game license is not required for hunting hogs.
To fish on FS/HAAF the Soldier will need a Georgia fishing license and a FS fishing permit.
Familiarize yourself with the Fort Stewart/HAAF Hunting, Fishing and Outdoor Recreation SOP. The SOP contains information needed to comply with all laws and regulations.
Training Areas
Before anyone leaves the highways on Fort Stewart to enter the rear areas they need to check into the "Rec Trac" system by phone. This is a sportsmen control system that when properly logged into, gives the sportsmen permission to travel to the hunting or fishing area that they desire that is open for recreation. When an officer encounters a subject in the rear areas of the Installations the first thing they do is check via cellphone to ensure the individual has permission to be there (logged in).
