Corps Team is working with a world leader in specialty glass and ceramics manufacturing to fill a fantastic new opportunity for an Executive Communications Manager.  This role will be based in the Hickory, NC area until early 2018 when the role will move to Charlotte, NC.  This organization is open to some flexible work opportunities for folks commuting.

Purpose of the Position:
The Executive Communications Manager is responsible for leading communications activities for the executive vice president and targeted activities for other senior executives throughout the organization.  The perfect candidate is a passionate, creative communicator with outstanding business acumen, outstanding writing skills, meticulous attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and a focus on high-quality, timely results.

Success is measured by:

a) satisfaction by internal/ external stakeholders

b) development and execution of best-in-class communications on a variety of topics and venues

c) the ability to mobilize internal and external resources to execute high-priority projects

This position reports directly to the Director of Communications with a dotted line to the EVP’s Chief of Staff.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Executive Communications Materials for Internal Audiences
  • Package and articulate key messages in creative, impactful ways to support executive communications to internal audiences
  • Support quarterly/annual meetings, executive leadership meetings, and large-scale conferences
  • Collaborate with Chief of Staff to develop and socialize executive communications plans outlining key stakeholders and messages for known events (and manage over time)
  • Interview ‘customers’ to gather key data points and craft into appropriate, impactful, and timely communications
  • Draft and edit executive communications materials including memos, internal news releases, FAQs, presentations, etc.
  • Collaborate with broader Marketing organization and external vendors to leverage a variety of technologies and platforms to deliver messages
  • Craft Executive Communications Materials for External Audiences
  • Package and articulate key messages in creative, impactful ways to support executive communications to external audiences
  • Support investor meetings, keynotes/industry presentations, and high profile M&A communications (including speeches, video scripts, slide/video presentations)
  • Interview ‘customers’ to gather key data points and craft into appropriate, impactful, and timely communications
  • Develop, edit, and/or manage all external communications to ensure Corning brand is represented in an appropriate manner

Desired Skills and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications or Journalism – MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in Communications in an in-house/corporate role
  • 5+ years of experience in an executive communications function

 

 Position Requirements

  • Strong track record of public relations and communications experience
  • Creative and versatile writing style, experience writing for a technology company a plus
  • Ability to effectively distill complex technology concepts, business strategies and industry trends into compelling messages and stories that are digestible by a variety of audiences
  • Impeccable communication skills
  • Presentation technology guru
  • Business acumen – has a strong command of business/finance/strategy and a high degree of professionalism/diplomacy, and the ability to effectively work with and communicate to executives
  • A calm demeanor and “Don’t worry – I’ve got it” mentality
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in an environment of constant change, shifting priorities and tight deadlines
  • Meticulous attention to detail, and strong preparation and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of what it takes to build, nurture and maintain a strong brand; creative story-telling
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships internally and externally; collaborative and inclusive; ability to work independently
  • Capability to handle sensitive information with discretion / confidentiality
