Freedom of Information Act

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), 5 United States Code (USC) 552, allows you to seek access to Executive Branch agency records, such as those held by the Department of the Navy.

Secretary of the Navy Instruction 5720.42F, Department of the Navy Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Program, governs this program and is codified at 32 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), part 701.

  • It is the policy of NAVSUPSYSCOM to make the maximum amount of information concerning our operations and activities available to the public.
  • Frequently requested documents are located on the FOIA Reading Room page and do not require submission of a FOIA request form.
  • Use the form located on the FOIA Request Form to send your request directly to the field activity that maintains the documents you seek, which are not found in the Electronic Reading Room .
