Mission of the Legal Program
The Office of The Staff Judge Advocate for the Colorado National Guard is committed to enhancing the readiness of servicemembers of the Colorado National Guard, and to protect and enhance their morale and promote their welfare, by providing professional and timely legal assistance to all eligible servicemembers, their family and military retirees.
This website does not replace personal service and private attorney-client consultation, but it does provide the opportunity to decide when to seek assistance and better prepare for that meeting.
Colorado National Guard Legal Assistance Program
Army Regulation 27-3 prescribes policies, responsibilities, and procedures for the Army Legal Assistance Program.
Legal assistance services are essential to morale, discipline, and quality of life in the National Guard. The Army Judge Advocate General's Corps has developed a website containing legal assistance information for soldiers at
www.jagcnet.army.mil/legal. This site contains valuable information on a wide variety of subjects, including personal legal assistance, family law, consumer law, employment and reemployment rights, and rights afforded under the
Soldiers' and Sailors' Civil Relief Act.
The
JAG Corps legal site includes several items, including:
-
A "Locate Legal Assistance" page that displays links to installation Legal Assistance websites and that connects to sites with instructions for finding military legal services information worldwide;
-
A "Locator" page that helps users find a private attorney, regulation, publication or form, and connects to several people-locator services for military members; and
-
Connecting information to Army claims and military criminal matters information sites.
Information specific to Colorado is provided in this site or at
www.carson.army.mil/LEGAL/FortCarsonLegalAssistance.htm.
