Colonel Mark C. Strong

Colonel Mark C. Strong has over 26 years of military experience.  He was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer in 1989 and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the United States Military Academy and a Master's Degree in Management from Webster University.   

COL Strong began his service as Fire Direction Officer and Platoon Leader assigned to the 17th Field Artillery Brigade, Augsburg Germany followed by troop, squadron and battalion Fire Support Officer assignments in the 24th Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.   

He transitioned to the North Carolina Army National Guard in 1994 and served as a staff officer and Battery Commander in the 1st Battalion, 113th Field Artillery. 

Since 1997, COL Strong has served in a wide variety of leadership, command and staff positions on active duty for the Army National Guard.  His leadership assignments include Commander 1st Battalion 113th Field Artillery - 30th Heavy Separate Brigade (NCARNG and OIF2), Chief of ARNG Force Management and Deputy, Assistant to the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff for National Guard and Reserve Matters. 

His most recent assignment was as the Special Assistant to the ARNG G-5 synchronizing National Guard Bureau support to the National Commission on the Future of the Army.
