Military Justice Division
The Military Justice Division provides legal advice and regulatory guidance to Commanders and their Staff
regarding adverse administrative actions, non-judicial punishment actions, Courts–Martial, and other military
disciplinary issues.
Military Justice
The Military Justice Division prosecutes violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), occurring within the
jurisdiction of the U.S. Army Activity Support, Fort Dix, General Court-Martial Convening Authority
(Commander, USASA, Fort Dix), which includes active and reserve units throughout New Jersey, Eastern
Pennsylvania and Southern New York. The Division also advises and supervise the processing of all UCMJ and
administrative actions to assist in maintaining good order and discipline and ensure justice.
U.S. Magistrate Court
The Division also assists in the prosecution of civilians and service members for misdemeanors (punishable for one year or less of incarceration)
and traffic offenses in federal court before a U.S. Magistrate Judge. The New Jersey US Attorney designates
a McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Joint Base attorney as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney to handle these matters on behalf
of the Department of Justice. The U.S. Attorney’s Office maintains jurisdiction regarding felony
(punishable by greater than one year of incarceration) offenses.

The Military Justice Division is also designated and responsible for the Victim Witness Assistance
Program (VWAP) for all commands under this General Court-Martial Convening Authority’s jurisdiction.
The Victim Witness Liaison Officer (VWL) serves as facilitator and coordinator for the VWAP and serves
as the primary point of contact through which victims and witnesses obtain information and assistance
in securing all available services.
