Weapon Registration
Concealed Weapons are unauthorized on Fort Lee unless the individual is a law enforcement officer in the performance of his/her official duties.
Military personnel assigned or attached to, and residing on Fort Lee and their family members will register their weapons with the Weapon Registration Office within 96 hours of their introduction onto the Installation. Weapons brought onto the Installation for any reason will be registered.
Other personnel desiring to bring their weapons on the installation must have their weapons registered prior to doing so.
The Weapon Registration Form is available at the Weapon Registration Office (Dukes Welcome Center) or it can be download using the link below. DO NOT BRING WEAPONS to the Registration Office.
Active duty military assigned to Fort Lee need to complete the Weapon Registration form “Fort Lee Form 694 Mil Wpn Reg” (one for each weapon). All others will use “Fort Lee Form 694-1 Civ Wpn Reg” (one for each weapon). Bring completed forms to the Weapon Registration Office ... DO NOT BRING the weapon.
For Military personnel, once the background check has been approved, take the form(s) and have it signed by the company commander, then return them to the registration office to complete the process.
The registration process will normally be completed within 7 working days.
After weapon information is added to the database, a permit will be printed listing all weapons registered to the owner. A copy of the registration will be given to the owner. A copy must stay with the weapon.
Changes of ownership of privately owned firearms will be reported to the Weapon Registration Office within 96 hours and, if otherwise required, the weapons new owner will register the weapon in his or her name.
Weapons will be kept in an acceptable location, regardless of length of stay.
Weapons will not be stored in vehicles, or in rooms at Lodging.
Firearms and ammunition will be stored in a secured locked container or gun rack, with precautions taken to ensure they are inaccessible to unauthorized personnel.
If an individual resides on post, in family housing, then the weapon may be kept at their house or the service member’s unit arms room.
The Soldier’s commander has discretionary authority to require the weapon be stored in the unit arms room.
If an individual resides in the barracks the weapon will be stored in the unit arms room.
If an individual is in transient quarters (TDY) the weapon will be stored in the affiliated unit arms room.
Transportation of weapons:
Weapons may be directly transported to/from authorized storage, hunting areas, firing ranges, or gun repair shops with no on-post stops. To transport on post, the weapon must be unloaded and placed in an area inaccessible to passengers in the vehicle with the ammunition transported in a separate compartment. If no area is inaccessible then it must be transported in a case and in open view with the ammunition stored separately.
