Intelligence Specialist
Intelligence Specialist, commonly referred to as Analysts or "0132's" (after their Federal Government job series), are a key component of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. These dedicated and skilled professionals play a vital role in the agency's mission to protect naval secrets, fight terrorism, and reduce crime.
NCIS Analysts are skilled subject matter or regional experts who examine and evaluate information from a wide variety of classified or unclassified sources to help identify and neutralize threats to Department of the Navy (DON) personnel and assets around the world. Working with NCIS "Multiple Threat Alert Center (MTAC) in Washington, DC and various NCIS Field Offices across the country and around the globe, NCIS analysts utilize their specialized knowledge and expertise to identify and track ever evolving criminal, terrorist and intelligence threats to the United States Navy and Marine Corps.
NCIS Analysts collect and assess intelligence from a number of sources, such as national databases, domestic/foreign media publications, and contacts with peers in other intelligence and law enforcement agencies. They prepare intelligence reports, brief senior DON policy and decision makers, and closely coordinate and support NCIS counterterrorism, counterintelligence, and criminal investigations and operations.
