Office History:
The Far East Field Office (FEFO) is located aboard Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan, near the entrance of Tokyo Bay approximately 43 miles south of Tokyo and 18 miles south of Yokohama.  FEFO is functionally and geographically responsible for NCIS investigative and operational activities throughout Northeast Asia.  Principal customers include the Forward Deployed Naval Forces of COMUSSEVENTHFLT and III Marine Expeditionary Force.  On any given day, FEFO is supporting approximately 60 ships, 140 aircraft and over 40,000 sailors and marines, their families and DON civilian employees. 

Territory Overview: Asia
Specific land areas under FEFO’s purview include Japan, Republic of Korea, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, People’s Republic of China (including Hong Kong and Macau Special Administrative Regions), Republic of China (Taiwan), Eastern portions of the Russian Federation, and Mongolia. 

FEFO oversees six NCIS Resident Agencies, three Resident Units, and several satellite offices spread between Japan and the Republic of Korea.  Our personnel accomplish the full spectrum of NCIS activities, and integrate closely with NCIS’ regional Security Training Assistance and Assessment Team (STAAT) and Global Operations cadre.  FEFO also partners with host law enforcement and security counterparts and views their cooperation as the lynchpin to defeating adversarial threats to the DON in the Western Pacific.
