The S&T community needs methods by which to identify technology requirements, match technology to those customer requirements, and transition that technology into tools that customers will use. The community also needs to determine the best way to support the technical insertion of new technologies into system development. Transitioning technology does not come naturally and can be very difficult. To transition technology successfully requires positive actions by people interacting throughout the system. A marketplace for the technology and appropriate applications for these technologies is necessary. The following programs were specifically designed to assist the community with developing new technologies that could be successfully transitioned. In some cases, the programs offer another source of funds, in addition to the specific program that supports the transition.
