PAD — Birth Registration

happy mom and new baby

This office processes approximately 300 birth certifications per month. The information is electronically transmitted to the Vital Statistics Office in Austin. A copy is also sent to the Bell County Courthouse Annex in Killeen.

Parents must visit the Darnall Birth Registration Office before leaving the hospital to review the Birth Certificate worksheet for accuracy. The Bureau of Vital Statistics processes the paperwork for the child's Social Security Number. The Social Security Card is mailed directly to the parents' home in about 6-8 weeks.

Parents are also given a copy of the Proof of Birth to take to their unit Personnel Office to enroll the newborn into the DEERS program. There is also a form for placing a free birth announcement in the post newspaper. For more information, call 286-7184 or 288-8584, Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Certified Copies of Short Form Birth Certificates are available on the Bell County Website. Prices, details and ordering instructions are on the Bell County Web Page.offsite link in new window
