Dr. Douglas Kiserow, Director
The Physical Sciences Directorate serves as the Army's executive agent to drive national research in the physical sciences that will uncover the fundamental properties and processes governing (i) chemical synthesis and properties, (ii) molecular to macroscopic biological systems, and (iii) exotic quantum and optical phenomena, to provide the scientific foundation to create revolutionary capabilities for the future Army.
Physics
Performs research to discover and understand exotic quantum and extreme optical physics where new regimes are expected to create revolutionary capabilities for the future warfighter.
- Atomic and Molecular Physics
- Condensed Matter Physics
- Quantum Information Science
Chemical Sciences
Performs research to discover and understand the fundamental properties, principles, and processes governing molecules and their interactions in materials or chemical systems to provide the scientific foundation to create revolutionary capabilities for the future warfighter, such as new protective and responsive materials, sensors, and munitions.
