Are you just arriving and don’t know where to go to get answers? Army Community Service Relocation Readiness offers a variety of relocation assistance services and resources to eliminate the stress associated with relocating. 

FORT HOOD WELCOME CD's

Fort Hood Welcome CD's are available for incoming Soldiers and Families at the Rivers Building 121 and Building 18010, the Copeland Soldier Service Center. Sponsors of incoming Soldiers may pick up information packets. Welcome CD's will be mailed upon request to individuals prior to arrival at Fort Hood.  You can customize your own welcome packet by visiting the Military HomeFront Installations website.

RELOCATION COUNSELING

Relocation Counseling is available to assist Soldiers and Families prepare for a move, manage the process and details of the move, and to adapt and settle into the new community after the move.  Relocation service providers help families navigate moving-related challenges by providing counseling, planning assistance, information, referral, and education on how to minimize the stress and maximize the benefits of military life and frequent moves. 

THE LENDING CLOSET

The Lending Closet has basic household items available for Soldiers and Families. Please bring an ID card to use this service.

SPONSOR-A-SPOUSE

This sponsorship program will answer spouse’s questions and assist in settling-in at Fort Hood. Due to the many rapid deployments Relocation Readiness will sponsor the spouse by reviewing Relocation’s In-processing Checklist, Fort Hood Welcome CD's and by providing resource referrals for:

  • Newcomers’ Information
  • Spouse Employment
  • Financial Assistance
  • Foreign-Born Spouse Assistance
  • Exceptional Family Member Program
  • Community Information

INTERNATIONAL SPOUSE SUPPORT GROUP

International Spouses share experiences while learning about opportunities that are available throughout the community. Through a partnership with Central Texas College Adult Education, Relocation Readiness makes referrals to free English as a Second Language (ESL) classes on Fort Hood and the local community.

HOOD HOWDY

This bi-Annual event is a Newcomer's Information Fair conducted by ACS Relocation Readiness Program in partnership with Family and Morale, Welfare Recreation. “Saddle up for the ride” is a new theme for the event featuring a Texas style welcome. Hood Howdy provides newcomers and the community an abundance of information for the ride at “The Great Place.” Information such as what’s happening in local programs and activities; in attendance are over 150 agencies and commercial sponsors, including the local Chambers of Commerce, Housing, emergency services, commissary and medical services. In addition, Family and MWR agencies are available to provide in-depth information regarding their services, such as financial counseling, recreational activities, job search assistance, and Child Youth School Services. For those with specific concerns or questions, one-on-one information is available.

Newcomers are given the opportunity to win great prizes.

MILITARY SPOUSE MEET AND GREET

The Military Spouse Meet and Greet meets every 3rd Thursday of the month and provides Newcomer Spouses and Waiting Families spouses whose sponsor is deployed, geographically separated, on an unaccompanied tour or extended TDY with resources and information on programs, events, settling-in services and referral and follow-up services. A monthly program email is provided to Newcomer Spouses and Waiting Families.

PLAN YOUR OWN MOVE

Military INSTALLATIONS and Plan My Move, two new helpful features from Military HOMEFRONT, provide you with the tools to successfully plan your next move.

MilitaryINSTALLATIONS provide addresses, telephone numbers, directions, installation overviews, local weather for programs, services and facilities on more the 250 military installation worldwide.

Plan My Move take control of your move. Use our customizable calendar tool to create a unique personal moving plan. The calendar contains to do lists, checklists, phone lists, and links to critical moving information from budget planners to choosing a school.

The "Clustering" technology of their search engine allows for pinpointing the information you need right now.

PCS ON THE GO

Soldiers and Family Members are personally invited to a one-on-one PCS on the Go brief. It's your opportunity to get a PCS on the Go CD, assistance navigating the Military Installations Website and helpful moving tips. For more information contact us at 254-287-4471. ACS Mobile information Stations

Army Community Service Outreach Program’s traveling mobile information resource station is dedicated to getting information in the hands of Soldiers and Family Members. The Mobile Information Station is a traveling display booth that can be found at on and off post organizations and functions. The booth offers:

  • Welcome Packet CD's
  • Support Group meeting program/event sign ups
  • ACS monthly calendar information
  • Monthly Military Spouse Meet and Greet
  • Sponsor a spouse program
  • Community Service Council information

Army Community Service Quarterly Interagency Meetings

Interagency Meetings are designed to bring Fort Hood agencies and off post community agencies together. Partnerships between agencies develop relationships and expand collective resources to enhance services. Agency representatives have the opportunity to share information about their services and programs. Meetings are held quarterly at various locations on Fort Hood.
