White Sands Missile Range provides advanced Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED) test environments and infrastructure to assess systems and technology capabilities and limitations in response to emerging threats, evolving Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTP), and tactical environments.
System Integration/Establish Final Configuration
- Install the Directed Energy (DE) C-IED System Under Test onto the test vehicle
- Operational Check of Integrated C-IED System
- Characterization of output energy pattern of the system
- Personnel Exposure Limit Testing
Implement Joint Test Protocols from JIEDDO (Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization) Joint Test Board
- Execute Baseline System Performance Testing by characterizing the system under test in a benign environment
- Execute Tactical Scenarios Testing using theater realistic conditions (roads, structures, and radio frequency environment)
- Assess Interoperability by assessing interface and fratricide effects with other C-IED systems
- Assess Blue Force Communications/Systems Compatibility
Conduct Necessary Safety Release Testing
- Conduct Vibration and Climate Testing (MIL-STD-810 Environmental Testing)
- Conduct Compatibility Testing to radio frequency hazard to fuel, ordnance, personnel, and blue equipment (Electromagnetic Compatibility MIL-STD-461/464)
