To promote the timely transfer of technology from Government laboratories to the private sector and to improve the competitiveness of U.S. industry, Congress passed the Federal Technology Transfer Act (FTTA) of 1986. The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) is responsible for NRL's implementation of the FTTA. The TTO creates alliances with industry and academia that will enhance and support the mission of the Laboratory and facilitates the commercialization of NRL's innovative technologies into products and services for the public good.
