The primary goal of CEIWR-HEC is to support the nation in its water resources management responsibilities by increasing USACE technical capability in
hydrologic engineering and water resources planning and management. One way CEIWR-HEC accomplishes this goal is by bringing state-of-the-art
research and development into state-of-the-practice which advances hydrologic engineering and water resources planning.
By means of programs in research, training, planning analysis, and technical assistance, efforts are made to be aware of the problems and needs of
USACE and the nation. A commitment is also made to keep abreast of the latest developments throughout the profession and to make use of this information
in a manner best suited to meet the needs of USACE.
CEIWR-HEC increases the effectiveness of USACE and the profession by bridging the gap between the academic community, practicing hydrologic engineers
and planning professionals. Research or training activities that can be best accomplished by universities is not undertaken. CEIWR-HEC incorporates
state-of-the-art procedures and techniques into manuals and comprehensive computer software. The procedures are made available to USACE and
professionals worldwide through an effective technology transfer program of technical assistance, publications, and training.
