The Army Research Laboratory (ARL) hires civilian, military and contractor employees for careers in a variety of occupations at ARL locations across the United States. ARL focuses its efforts on scientific discovery, innovation, and transition of technological developments in the areas of computational and information sciences; human sciences; materials research; sciences for lethality and protection; sciences for maneuver; assessment and analysis; and extramural basic research. From biologists to statisticians, ARL is looking for talented and dedicated employees.

ARL has a special hiring authority for scientists and engineers possessing advanced degrees (master's or above) at locations across the United States. Biological Sciences Series 0400
Positions supervise, lead or perform research and development in biology, including biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, systems biology, microbiology, and physiology. This series is sometimes used to designate a position, which does not require a particular biological specialty, but requires general knowledge of the broad life science field with ability to manage personnel within it.
Physical Sciences Series 1300
Positions supervise, lead or perform research and development in the field of physical sciences, including chemistry, polymer science, physics, quantum mechanics, and meteorology. This series is sometimes used to designate a position, which does not require a particular specialty, but requires general knowledge of the broad physical science field with ability to manage personnel within it.
Mathematical Sciences Series 1500
Positions supervise, lead or perform research and development in the field of basic mathematical principles, methods, procedures, or relationships, including mathematics and statistics, computer science, operations research, and any other professional and scientific or related clerical work requiring primarily and mainly the understanding and use of mathematical theories, methods, and operations.
Engineering Series 0800
Positions supervise, lead or perform professional engineering or scientific work, including mechanical, electrical, chemical, and materials engineering, electronics engineering, bioengineering and biomedical engineering, safety engineering and computer engineering. Positions in this series require knowledge of the science or art, or both, by which materials, natural resources, and powers are made useful.
Social Science and Psychology Series 0100
Positions which advise on, administer, supervise or perform research or other professional and scientific work in one or any combination of the social sciences or in psychology. These positions apply behavioral or social sciences; or related disciplines appropriate to the position to organizational or military situations.
