Religious Support Office

We provide religious services, pastoral counseling, religious education, Bible studies, youth groups, choirs and retreats. Services are regularly conducted for the major faith groups - Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and Muslim. Non-denominational services and activities are also held at various locations around post.

The Family Life Ministry Center


  • The Family Life Ministry Center (FLMC) is a pastoral counseling center available to all branches of the military services, civilian employees and family members in the Fort Meade community.
    • The goal of the FLMC is to offer professional and compassionate care to the whole person.
    • The counselors at the FLMC are educated and trained in current and recognized models of counseling to provide you dedicated, professional service
    • The FLMC is directed by the Garrison Family Life Chaplain and is staffed by civilian interns enrolled in the Loyola University Maryland Pastoral Counseling Department.  For over a decade, Fort Meade’s Religious Support Office has partnered with Loyola University to provide this ministry.
    • Individual, marriage, and family counseling is offered to provide care for a wide variety of concerns and issues including post traumatic stress, grief, and anger, as well as couples, parenting, and family issues.
    • The FLMC is located at Argonne Hills Chapel Center, 7100 Rockenback Road.
    • Hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
    • Counseling is by appointment.

How to request the use of Chapel facilities

  • Scheduling should be done in the following manner:
    • Religious Activity Requests:

      • Religious activities can be planned as one year in advanced all must be in accordance to the Fiscal year (Oct. to Sep.)
      • All religious activities should be planned prior to 90 days of the event
      • Any religious activity scheduled prior to 90 days of the event will have priority scheduling
      • Religious activities planned less than 90 days prior to the event date will be considered just like a unit event
      • Reoccurring religious activities must be turned in quarterly not yearly
    • Unit Activity Requests:

      • Unit activities can be planned between 45 to 90 days prior to the event
      • Unit events that are scheduled between 45 to 90 days in advance can only be bumped by a funeral or memorial service
    • 45 Days out:

      • All training should be locked in prior to 45 days out
      • Any Training or Religious Activity Requests that are received less than 45 days in advance, must be accompanied by a memorandum requesting exception to policy signed by an O-3 or higher and will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Once the chapel facility is reserved, a confirmation letter will be faxed to the point of contact for the event. Be sure to provide a contact number and/or fax number.
  • All request forms must be signed into the request log book at Argonne Hills Chapel. Request will not be put on the calendar without a request form turned-in.
  • Upon the Approval of the Chapel Request RSO will contact the Units Sponsoring Chaplain and Chaplain Assistant. The Sponsoring Chaplain or their assistant MUST BE PRESENT at all events sponsored. The Unit UMT is responsible for making coordination with the Key Custodian/Chapel NCOIC for the keys and a copy of the approved request.  The Unit UMT will also be responsible for ensuring the Chapel is cleaned after the event and will turn in the cleaning checklist to the RSO.
