Our Mission is to strengthen the Overall Fitness and Effectiveness of the Army's Total Workforce and enhancement of Soldier Combat Readiness.

Our Vision is to be a Top-Notch Army Substance Abuse Program and service provider that enhances fitness, combat readiness, and worker productivity.

Servicing all military personnel, AD family members (18yrs and older), DoD civilians and retirees.

Regulations covering ASAP:

  • AR 600-63, (Army Health Promotion)
  • AR 600-85 (Army Substance Abuse Program)
  • DA PAM 600-85 (Army Substance Abuse Program Civilian Services)

ADAPT - Prevention Education / Training

The ADAPT class is taught using the Prime for Life Model.

Note:  Attendees must attend all portions of the course to receive credit for the class, and must be recommended, for the course, by either the commander or the Employee Assistance Program Coordinator (EAPC).   The ADAPT is a two (2) day course, and all classes are from 0830 - 1630

EAP Mission Statement:

Ft. Meade supports the community in achieving excellence by improving the quality of life and productivity through professional, short-term counseling and education services to all civilian personnel and family members.

Eligibility:  All civilian employees’, military & civilian family members, non-Appropriated Fund, Appropriated Fund and Retirees.

Services:
Available to employees and supervisors. Screening/Assessment, Referral, supervisor consults, Individual Counseling, Group Counseling, Family Counseling & Follow-Up.

  • EAP services are free to eligible personnel
  • EAP services are confidential

Objectives:
Increase employee productivity
Reduce absenteeism and employee turnover
Reduce accidents and on-the-job injuries
Encourage a drug-free workplace
Resource for managers, supervisors, and employees to support employee wellness

Methods of Referral:
Self:  Individual seeks assistance independently
Informal Management Referral:  Supervisor may suggest that employee seek assistance
Formal Management Referral:  Employee is referred by supervisor/manager due to declining work performance.

Why EAP’s??

EAPs increase employee morale since they focus on assisting employees becoming productive again.

EAPs are preventative.  They educate, evaluate, and help plan solutions for a wide variety of personal issues for employees and their family members before they become overwhelming.

EAPs are an effective tool in assisting supervisors to better manage the workplace and troubled employees.  EAPs are a proactive way for companies to extend a caring hand while building a more productive workforce.

EAPs provide employees with a valuable resource for helping them cope with a wide variety of issues on and off the job, including alcohol and drug abuse, overall mental well being, marital/relationship issues, child/family issues, stress, dependent care, and more.

Mission: Improve readiness through the development and enhancement of the Army Suicide Prevention Program policies designed to minimize suicide behavior; thereby preserving mission effectiveness through individual readiness for Active Duty Military Members, their Families, and Department of Defense civilians.

Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

ASIST Program

ACE (Ask - Care - Escort) and ACE-SI (Suicide Intervention) Training

ACE: Fort Meade offers ACE training workshops (90 minutes). ACE is educational training on Suicide Awareness, designed to help inform individuals on possible signs and symptoms of a person at risk for suicide.  ACE is open to ANYONE on the installation who wishes to learn more about suicide awareness.

Quarterly ACE-SI: Fort Meade is now offering quarterly ACE-SI training workshops every other month. ACE-SI is a 4 hour training course on Suicide Intervention. ACE-SI designed to help individuals feel comfortable with asking a person at risk if they are thinking of suicide, and then caring for the person at risk by escorting them to get help. ACE-SI is open to anyone over 18 who wishes to learn more about suicide intervention.

Who may attend: ACE-SI is open to anyone over 18 including military, civilians, and family members.
