Real Warriors Campaign

The Real Warriors Campaign is a multimedia public-awareness initiative designed to encourage help-seeking behavior among service members, veterans and military families coping with invisible wounds. Launched by the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury in 2009, the campaign is an integral part of the Defense Department's overall effort to encourage warriors and families to seek appropriate care and support for psychological health concerns.

Project Valour-IT

Project Valour-IT provides voice-controlled laptops and personal GPS systems to service members recovering from hand wounds and other severe injuries including TBI and PTSD. A sub-program, coordinated with Survivor Outreach Services, will soon begin providing laptops to spouses of fallen warriors who return to school.

The Home Base Program

The Home Base Program is a partnership between the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital. The program is dedicated to improving the lives of veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars who are suffering from deployment-related post-traumatic stress disorder or traumatic brain injury. The program has multiple components, including clinical care, family support, research, education and community outreach, which are available to residents of New England.

Military Pathways

Military Pathways is a service-wide and statewide resource for anonymous self-assessment in mental health issues (alcohol, depression, PTSD, etc.) for service members and their families. The assessment is also available for units to use and has an orderable resource. The locator connects to the nearest base entity for mental health screenings and if one is not available a click to an electronic screening is easy. The website has articles on resiliency, alcohol awareness, anxiety, military mental health and stress. There are links to Military OneSource and other agencies in addition to an App for families via the FOCUS program, a newsletter and an invitation to share inspiring stories from readers. Links to social media are also available. The website also allows an easy switch to Spanish on the main page.

Team Red, White and Blue

Team Red, White and Blue's mission is to enrich the lives of America's veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. This organization views physical fitness and activity as a viable option for treating PTSD.

Michiana Behavioral Health

Michiana Behavioral Health offers acute care, outpatient and partial hospitalization for adults, adolescents and children. Michiana Behavioral is a TRICARE provider of residential care for children and adolescents and has substance abuse and PTSD programs. The program is for residents of Indiana only.

Paws and Effect

Paws and Effect, a nonprofit organization based in Iowa, raises and trains service dogs and places them with military veterans with combat service related issues such as TBI, PTSD, physical injury and special needs. Foster families raise and train the puppies until it's time for placement with their new owner, a combat veteran.

The Warrior Connection

The Warrior Connection is specific to veterans and service members who have PTSD. The program offers no-cost, private and totally confidential group retreats for veterans, families and training for those veterans, families, facilitators and communities who are committed to supporting veterans in transition. The Warrior Connection serves Vermont and surrounding states.
