The Orthopaedic Oncology Service

We are proud to support the newly designated Cancer Center of Excellence at Walter Reed-Bethesda, the only Military Treatment Facility to receive this distinction from the Department of Defense.

World-class, compassionate cancer care
The Orthopaedic Oncology service focuses on you. We offer state of the art treatment options for all musculoskeletal malignancies in all age groups. Our areas of expertise include:
  • Limb sparing surgery (and complex joint reconstruction)
  • Osteosarcoma
  • Ewings sarcoma
  • Soft tissue sarcoma
  • Metastatic bone disease (from any cancer)
  • Benign tumors of bone
A commitment to research
We’ve partnered with Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm Sweden to develop clinical decision-support tools using advanced Machine Learning methods. With our partners in Hematology-Oncology we aggressively pursue clinical trials with the National Cancer Institute and the Children’s Oncology Group.

We serve active duty and retired military personnel, as well as their beneficiaries (children and adults).

Our physicians serve as faculty at the Uniformed Services University, are board-certified (American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery), and are fellowship trained in Orthopaedic Oncology.
