On May 29, 2014 many popular names of statutes will be removed from the FAR and replaced with new titles that conform to the names found in the United States Code. "Positive Law Codification of Title 41 (FAR Case 2011–018)” was issued in the Federal Register (Vol.79‐No.82) on 29 April 2014. This new rule includes a table at FAR 1.110 which provides cross references between the previously used historical titles of certain acts, and their new references in title 40 or title 41 that will now be used in the FAR.
As indicated in this table, for example, the “Davis-Bacon Act” is being replaced by the term “Wage Rate Requirements (Construction)”, the “Service Contract Act of 1965” is being replaced by the term “Service Contract Labor Standards”, and the “Truth in Negotiations Act” is being replaced by the term “Truthful Cost or Pricing Data”. It’s possible that you have seen these changes already, because the DFARS has already changed to reflect the corrected titles, with one exception... One exception??? If you really want to impress your contracting friends, see that the DFARS will continue to use the name “Truth in Negotiations Act”, while the FAR will change to “Truthful Cost or Pricing Data. Below is a handy table to help you memorize the changes.
