Use of this Guide

This guide is a reference for contacting agencies responsible for providing assistance to Families in the prevention and intervention of high risk behaviors. Off post non-profit agencies are occasionally listed so that families have a full range of the resources available within the Fort Campbell area. The Fort Campbell area is dedicated to providing resources and support to Soldiers and their Families.

Please use the index to look up a risk factor and see all the resources that can be applied to help reduce risks. Each page/section is organized as follows:

I) Definition of the risk factors listed
II) Primary staff agencies responsible for assistance in providing services
III) All services available with a brief description; address; and phone number

Understanding Interventions and Preventions:
An intervention is an orchestrated attempt by one, or often, many people (usually Family and friends) to get someone to seek professional help with an addiction or some kind of traumatic event or crisis. The term intervention is most often used when the traumatic event involves addiction to alcohol, drugs, suicidal ideations or other items.

A prevention is a program of activities directed at improving general well-being and often involving specific protection for selected purposes or diseases, such as immunization; while primary prevention is the avoidance of the onset of disease by behavior modification (e.g. limiting alcohol intake) or treatment (e.g. routine childhood immunization).
The Fort Campbell Community has many programs, services and facilities on the installation that can provide intervention and prevention measures for Soldiers and Family Members. Other programs can offer treatment and education services to Units, individual Soldiers and Family members. This guide will be continually evolving as the Army’s Health Promotion, Risk Reduction and Suicide Prevention advance efforts on the installation.

      1. Get a prescription
        • Your prescription must be from a TRICARE-authorized doctor, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or nurse midwife.
        • Your prescription must show if you’re getting a basic manual or standard electric pump. To get a hospital-grade pump, you need to work with your provider and TRICARE contractor to get a referral and authorization
        • Your prescription doesn’t have to specify a brand.
        • If you’re going to get your breast pump from a network provider or durable medical equipment supplier, ask your provider to include a diagnosis code on your prescription.
        • We suggest you make a copy of your prescription for your records.

      2. Get a pump.
        • If you don’t want to pay up front, contact your TRICARE contractor to find a network provider or supplier. You need to show your prescription.
        • If you want to get your pump from a military clinic or hospital, follow their processes and procedures.
        • If you don’t mind paying up front, go to a TRICARE-authorized provider, supplier, or vendor (includes retail and online stores). Make sure to save and copy your receipt. You won’t need to show your prescription.

      3. File a claim.
        • If you use a network provider or supplier, you don’t have to file a claim.
        • If you bought the pump yourself, you have to fill out a DD Form 2642, attach a copy of the prescription and receipt, and mail it to your TRICARE claims processor. The TRICARE contractor will mail you a check.
