NICoE Outpatient Services provide diagnostic evaluations, treatments, diagnoses, and follow-up care for traumatic brain injury (TBI) of all severities. Patients work with providers and case managers to get personalized outpatient rehabilitation services, symptom management, and treatment plans. Rehabilitation team providers meet regularly to discuss and monitor patients’ progress and to make sure patients receive the care that meets their unique needs and goals. Treatment continues on a case-by-case basis to help patients return to their highest level of functioning for as long as providers recommend to support healing and recovery.

In addition to clinical care, TBI education is a key part of any treatment plan. TBI education courses are offered through the clinic for both patients and families, including one-on-one sessions, TBI Basics classes, and additional family education.

NICoE Outpatient Services are is involved in conducting research to better understand, assess, prevent, and treat TBI. Eligible patients and caregivers have the opportunity to sign up for different research studies. For more information on NICoE research, click here.

NICoE Outpatient Services are open to active-duty service members, guardsmen, reservists, retirees, and their beneficiaries, 17 years of age and older, with mild, moderate, severe, and penetrating TBI.
