Mr. Hari Bezwada Speaks at AFCEA Sponsored Luncheon

Mr. Hari Bezwada, Chief Information Officer (CIO), PEO EIS, was the guest speaker for the AFCEA Belvoir monthly luncheon at the Fort Belvoir Officer’s Club Apr. 23.
Mr. Bezwada gave a general information briefing, with topics including: data center strategy, Joint Regional Security Stacks (JRSS) updates, strategies for addressing connectivity/NEC at camps, posts and installations, partnering with industry and general timelines for rollouts of IT solutions.
The briefing was well-received by the industry audience and was followed by a Q&A period and a receiving line for individual questions.

U.S. Army PD AMIS Announces RFID-IV Contract Award

Alexandria, Va., April 9, 2014 – The U.S. Army Product Director, Automated Movement and Identification Solutions (PD AMIS) announces award of the Radio Frequency Identification IV (RFID-IV) Contract to Savi Technology. The contract is a single award, Firm Fixed Price (FFP), Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ), Government-Wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) for active RFID (aRFID) technology to include hardware, software and technical engineering services. The five-year contract has a ceiling value of $102 million, including a of three (3) year (36 months) base ordering period and two (2) one-year (12 month) options for aRFID technology solutions. PD AMIS offers aRFID products and solutions to Department of Defense (DOD), United States Coast Guard (USCG), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), coalition partners, other Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and all U.S. government federal agencies. PD AMIS has a diverse mission to support joint services executed under the Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS). PD AMIS provides a single point of contact for procurement, technical expertise, training and customer support for Radio Frequency In-Transit Visibility (RF-ITV) and Transportation Coordinators’ - Automated Information for Movements System II (TC-AIMS II) products and services. In addition, PD AMIS supports the integration of automated movement and identification technologies into Army and Enterprise business processes. Changes in Leadership at PdM P2E

Congratulations to Mr. Art Olson on His Retirement
Mr. Art Olson, Deputy Product Manager, Power Projection Enablers (P2E) retired after more than 42 years of service to the U.S. Army as a Soldier, contractor and civilian. PdM P2E hosted a retirement ceremony March 19 in celebration of Mr. Olson’s impressive career. Guests included family, friends, and colleagues from across PEO EIS, industry, and the Army.
After serving in the Army for 20 years, Mr. Olson worked in industry for thirteen years and then he began his civil service career in 2003. Prior to his assignment as Deputy, P2E, Mr. Olson served as the Deputy, Technology Management Division, Program Manager Network Services Center at Fort Monmouth, N.J. Art was also assigned to U.S. Army Information Systems Engineering Command, where he was responsible for upgrading voice telecommunications systems and data networks for multiple Army installations in CONUS, Germany, Southwest Asia, Japan (including Navy and Marine Corps installations) and Korea.
Mr. Olson’s exceptional and varied experience helped to shape PdM P2E into the organization we all know. As the deputy product manager for P2E for the last 5 years, Mr. Olson has been responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and activities essential to the delivery of a standardized, global infrastructure and enterprise services in direct support of deployed forces worldwide managing workforce of 167 military, civilian and contractor personnel executing approximately $300 million annually.
The entire P2E family would like to thank Art for his exceptional service and wish him and his wife Fran a wonderful retirement.

P2E Welcomes New Deputy Product Manager, Mr. Scott Ervin

In March, PdM P2E welcomed a new Deputy Product Manager, Mr. Scott Ervin, to the P2E Family. Mr. Ervin has more than 27 years experience in managing, planning, operating and acquiring communications systems.
Before beginning his civilian career in 1997, Mr. Ervin served in the United States Army as an MOS 32D, Communications Circuit System Controller in Pirmasens, Germany, and in industry as a Technical Control Operator/Maintainer. Since beginning his civilian career, Mr. Ervin has served in a variety of positions including the Product Director, Baseband Systems, Deputy Product Director, Satellite Communications Systems; Chief of PD SCS' Integration, Implementation and Configuration Management; and Project Leader for Auxiliary Communications Shelter (ACS) supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
Mr. Ervin has also served as Chief of the Wideband Satellite Communications Cell in the Regional Satellite Communications Support Center (RSSC) – Europe for USARSTRAT, the Senior Contingency Communications System Planner for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)-Europe, and also the Operations Officer for Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) Station in Landstuhl, Germany.
Mr. Ervin is an active member of the Army Acquisition Corps with Level Three Certification in Program Management (2009). PdM P2E looks forward to learning from his varied experiences and working with him to fulfill the global P2E mission. Welcome, Scott Ervin!

MC4 First Recipient of Excellence.gov Health IT Award

Medical Communications for Combat Casualty Care (MC4) was honored by the American Council for Technology (ACT) and the Industry Advisory Council (IAC) on March 24 as the first recipient of the Excellence in Health IT award, a new Excellence.gov award category this year.
The award recognizes MC4’s work in continuing to provide deployed medical personnel with the means to electronically document soldier care, order medical supplies and provide commanders situational awareness.
“This isn’t about us or the MC4 staff; this award is for all the Soldiers who will benefit from having confidence that the injury or care they received in combat is recorded in their records,” MC4 Deputy Product Manager Orlando J. Illi said at the award reception.
“Their electronic records will continue to serve them if they make a claim with the VA after they retire or separate from the Army,” he continued. “This award is for all the Soldiers who were positively impacted by having an electronic medical record since 2003.”
The MC4 system has collected and transmitted more than 21.6 million electronic patient encounters since its initial operating capability in 2003.
“MC4 is a critical enabler to our commanders and Soldiers in the field as well as back in garrison,” said Reginald L. Bagby, portfolio manager of Enterprise Management Systems at Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS). “Active Duty and the Army National Guard alike reap the benefit of the MC4 electronic medical record system. It is one of those programs where no one ever has to question its value.”

PEO EIS programs win three ALTies Awards

Programs from PEO EIS took home awards in three categories in Army AL&T magazine’s second annual ALTies awards. The ALTies awards were announced at the Army AL&T’s second annual writer’s workshop given at the U.S. Army Acquisition Service Center (USAASC) headquarters here at Fort Belvoir Mar. 27, and were presented by Editor-in-Chief Nelson McCouch III.
The Project Director Reserve Component Automation Systems (PD RCAS) tied for Best Article for their excellent feature, “Wired for Success,” by LTC Jeffery T. Yon and Mr. Jeffrey C. Faulkner, which appeared in the October-December 2013 issue of AL&T. The Best Photo award went to Product Director Logistics Modernization Program (PD LMP) for the photo accompanying “Total Logistics Integration” in the January-March 2013 issue. LMP also took home the Best Ad award for their full-page ad featured in the October-December 2013 issue.
