PM AcqBusiness Planning Stakeholder Forum

Product Manager AcqBusiness is planning a stakeholder forum for Army acquisition professionals later this year. The first Army Acquisition Business Enterprise Forum (AABEF) is scheduled for October 30-31. The theme for the event is, "Developing Innovative Capabilities for the Army Acquisition Community."
During the AABEF, attendees will hear updates on PM AcqBusiness' capabilities, policies and procedures, as well as participating in various breakout sessions to learn more about AcqBusiness initiatives and current capabilities.

GCSS-Army Change of Charter Ceremony

The Project Manager Army Enterprise Systems Integration Program (PM AESIP) hosted a change of charter ceremony for the Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army) July 3 at Fort Lee, Va. The ceremony welcomed incoming Product Manager (PdM) LTC Christopher Romero, and honored LTC Timothy Domke, the outgoing GCSS-Army PdM. Approximately 80 people attended.
Following the National Anthem and Invocation, COL T. Patrick Flanders, Project Manager for AESIP, the parent organization of GCSS-Army, presented LTC Domke with the Meritorious Service Medal on behalf of the Program Executive Officer Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS), Mr. Douglas Wiltsie.
COL Flanders lauded LTC Domke for guiding the GCSS-Army team through the Milestone C Decision, an Initial Operational Test and Evaluation, and a Full Deployment Decision, as well as initiating the complex fielding effort. LTC Domke attributed the success of GCSS-Army to the entire team, highlighting these milestones as a testament to their commitment and abilities.
Incoming PdM LTC Romero, a native of Long Island, N.Y., graduated from the State University of New York at Oneonta in 1989, and received his Master of Science in Project Management from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2005. LTC Romero completed the Basic Airborne Course at Fort Benning, Ga., the Combined Arms and Services Staff School, and Intermediate Level Education at Fort Belvoir, Va. LTC Romero is a Certified Level III Acquisition Professional in Program Management and Level I in Test & Evaluation. His last assignment was the Missile Defense Agency, where he served as a Program Element Manager.LTC Romero’s remarks following the transfer of charter recognized that LTC Domke left “big shoes” to fill. His wife, close friends, and mentors were in attendance, and LTC Romero thanked them for their support and encouragement. After the ceremony, LTC Romero hosted a reception for the attendees.

Department of Defense (DoD) Biometrics Holds Its Information Exchange

The Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS) hosted a DoD Biometrics Information Exchange event in Wood Theater, Fort Belvoir, Va., on July 30. Mr. Douglas Wiltsie, Program Executive Officer, provided opening remarks and emphasized collaboration among industry representatives and the DoD biometric community.
“We look forward to sharing information with industry and to gain valuable insights on capabilities through today’s exchange,” Mr. Wiltsie said. “We hope to arrive at outcomes that will be most cost-effective and operationally efficient for war fighters.”
The day’s event included presentations to over 260 industry attendees. Following Mr. Wiltsie’s welcoming remarks, COL Sandy Vann-Olejasz, Project Manager (PM) for DoD Biometrics, provided an overview of current DoD efforts in designing, engineering, acquiring, deploying and sustaining enterprise biometric solutions.
Providing specific program briefings were: LTC Eric Pavlick, Product Manager for Biometrics Enabling Capability (BEC); LTC Jackie Barnes, Product Manager for Joint Personnel Identification (JPI); and Mr. Edward Quick, Deputy Project Manager for DoD Biometrics, who spoke about Project Management Office Support (PMOS).
The program continued with three afternoon panel discussions (BEC, JPI and PMOS) based on questions from the audience that were submitted in the morning session. COL Vann-Olejasz closed the event with appreciation to all attendees, offering a reminder of near term opportunities to industry.
