Law Enforcement Division
The Headquarters and Law Enforcement Command (HQ & LEC) was originally designated the U.S. 
Army Accessions Command Law Enforcement Activity (Provisional) on 2 January 1983. Its mission was to provide command and control for all Military Police activities on Fort Knox to include law enforcement, traffic control, physical security, and corrections.
On 13 July 1990, with the addition of the Personnel Control Facility and the designation of the Installation Detention Facility as a Regional Corrections Facility, the Law Enforcement Activity was redesignated as the Law Enforcement Command (Provisional).
The Law Enforcement Command reorganized on 7 January 1993 with the additions of Companies A and B, US Army Accessions Command. In an effort to present a clearer picture of the battalion's mission, the LEC was redesignated as the Headquarters and Law Enforcement Command on 27 July 1995.
The "Headquarters" portion denotes the support given to the U.S. Army Accessions Command by A and B Companies; while the "Law Enforcement" designation continues to identify the battalion's missions of law enforcement, corrections, and returnee processing. In 2003 Company A was redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, US Army Garrison and Company B was deactivated.
