Reserve Officer Promotions

Navy Personnel Command > Boards > Reserve Officer

The October Promotion message has been released, NAVADMIN 215/16.

Per NAVADMIN 186/16, officer photographs will no longer be displayed during selection boards.

The NDAA for 2006 changed the due date for letters to officer promotion boards. Please view  Correspondence to a Promotion Board for more information.

PERS-801 sponsors all statutory reserve officer promotion selection boards for selection to the rank of O6 and below.

Pers-80 does not sponsor any of the administrative reserve boards, such as the Command/Non-Command Board (also known as the "Apply Board"), Reserve LDO/CWO Procurement Board, or FTS Redesignation Board. You will need to contact PERS-9.  They have a link to the "Apply Program" on their page.

Correspondence for ALL boards conducted at NPC in Millington is to be sent to the NPC Customer Service Center. The address is provided within the annual notice of convening promotion selection boards.  Please use ONLY that address for any letter to a PROMOTION Board. Do NOT send your letter to any other PERS code. If you do, you risk your correspondence getting lost or being received too late for the board. Also, you MUST use your FULL social security number on your correspondence to the board.

REGULAR MAIL is the preferred method to ensure resolution quality of the documents being submitted.  If you must email a board package (i.e., deployed, stationed OCONUS), you can send it to the CSCSELBOARD@navy.mil email address. To ensure more efficient processing and for internal tracking purposes, a recommended subject line of your email is "FOUO: Board Package: Reserve [Rank] [Line/Staff] Board, FY-YYXXX" (where YY represents the last two digits of the fiscal year of the selection board and XXX represents the actual 3-digit board number and you insert the appropriate parenthetical information). FY-18 Board Schedule.  You MUST encrypt your email due to PII policy.

If you sent a letter to a board, you may check on its status by logging in to this web site:  Check on your letter to the board.

Many questions about boards can be answered on our Helpful Information or Board Preparation links below. There is also some valuable information on the General Board Information pages.
