2-4 FA trains and prepares for combat; on order, deploys to any area of operations to provide field artillery rocket and missile fires in support of unified land operations.

Lt. Col. Cornelius Morgan

Lt. Col. Cornelius Morgan was born in Auburn, Ala. He received a commission from the University of Tampa on a four year ROTC scholarship in 1997. Lt. Col. Morgan completed a bachelor of arts degree in political science. He also completed a master of arts degree in business management and leadership from Webster University in March 2007.

Lt. Col. Morgan’s first active duty assignment was with the 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery, Fort Hood, Texas, where he served as a fire support officer, fire direction officer and targeting officer. Upon completion of the Field Artillery Captains Career Course, he was assigned as the battalion fire direction officer and battalion assistant operations officer with the 4-27th FA, Baumholder, Germany.

In 2002, Lt. Col. Morgan was assigned as the task force fire support officer with the 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry, and deployed for combat in 2003, Operation Iraqi Freedom I (OIF I). While deployed, he assumed battery command in Baghdad assigned to the 4-27th FA. Upon completion of command, he was selected as a Project Warrior officer. As a Project Warrior officer, Lt. Col. Morgan spent two years at the National Training Center as an observer/controller followed by two years as a small group instructor mentoring officers at the Captains Career Course.

In 2009, Lt. Col. Morgan deployed as a combat advisor to Mosul, Iraq, serving as a operations officer advisor and fire support advisor to an Iraqi army brigade . Upon redeployment, Lt. Col. Morgan assumed the duties as the battalion executive officer for the 5-3rd FA, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. His last assignment was as an investigator assigned to the Department of the Army Inspector General.

Lt. Col. Morgan attended the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course, Field Artillery Captains Career Course, and the Command and General Staff College (Intermediate Level Education). His awards include the Bronze Star Medal (with one oak leaf cluster), the Meritorious Service Medal (with three OLC), Army Commendation medal (with two OLC), Army Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Badge.

Lt. Col. Morgan is married to the former Troi Warner of Waco, Texas and they have one daughter.

CSM Anthony James Oliver

Command Sgt. Maj. Anthony James Oliver was born in Fort Myers, Fla. He enlisted in the Army in January 1989 and graduated from Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, Okla. as a cannon crewmember.

In his rise through noncommissioned officer ranks, he performed superbly in every key position of his career development and received numerous accolades from peers and superiors alike.

His assignments include service with 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Casey, Korea; 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, Ky., 1st Battalion, 321st Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, N.C. as a first sergeant; and at Fort Polk, La. as a first sergeant.

He is a graduate of numerous educational courses to include the Sergeants Major Academy, Class 63 and holds a bachelor of science degree from Excelsior University in Albany, N.Y. His military decorations and awards include the Bronze Star Medal with “V” device for heroism, three Bronze Star Medals for service, two Meritorious Service Medals, four Army Commendation Medals, nine Army Achievement Medals and numerous foreign and service awards. He has also been awarded the Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge and the Air Assault Badge, coupled with the Canadian Parachutist Badge and a recipient of the Order of Saint Barbara.

He resides in Lawton, Okla. with his fiancé the lovely Demetria McMillian and her daughter Briala.
