AREA COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

- Cameron University

Cameron University offers more than 60 undergraduate degrees and four graduate programs at ourLawton campus. On-post courses are offered in short- term, noon-hour, and eveningformats. Cameron University also offers a degree completion program that is designed to allow working adults an opportunity to complete a bachelor's degree. This program combines past college work with a series of courses in online and evening formats to equal a bachelor's degree. In some cases, student's work and life experiences may even count for college credit. This is a flexible program that allows adults to earn a bachelor of science in organizational leadership.

Additionally, we offer associate of science and bachelor of science degrees in interdisciplinary studies. These degrees are designed to serve active duty personnel and goal directed students whose educational needs are not met by one of the university's present majors.

- Central Texas College

Since opening its doors on December 1, 2006, the Central Texas College representatives serve as a point-of-contact for students and provide such services as degree mapping, registering active duty soldiers and civilians for classes, guidance to distance learning students and acting as a liaison to Veterans Affairs. Hand in hand, Central Texas College and the education center vigorously promote lifelong learning opportunities for the betterment of our soldiers and family members.

CTC offers associate of applied science degrees in applied management, applied management with computer applications, business management, criminal justice, legal assistant/paralegal, information technology, business programmer analyst, restaurant and culinary management, and hotel management specialization. CTC offers associates of arts degrees in general studies and social science.

- Columbia College-Fort Sill

At Columbia College-Fort Sill, everything we do is geared toward helping military personnel and other working adults improve their lives through higher education. Whether you want to finish a degree you started years ago or are attending college for the first time, we'll help you reach your goal of earning an affordable college degree. Columbia College, founded in 1851 in Columbia, Mo., has 35 campuses nationwide, including 18 campuses on military bases. We offer associate and bachelor's degrees and have three online master's degrees. We offer in-seat and online undergraduate classes, making it convenient for the adult student to earn an accredited college degree. - University of Oklahoma Outreach

The University of Oklahoma Outreach offers the adult learner the opportunity to pursue a master’s or doctoral degree on the main campus in Norman and at sites across US and Europe. These courses are brought to you by internationally known OU faculty members and distinguished scholars who are committed to providing you with academic excellence.

Here at the Harry S. Truman Education Center on Fort Sill, OU outreach offers the following programs to military personnel, civil service personnel and civilians: master of human relations, master of arts with an emphasis in international relations, master of arts with a major in economics, and a master of arts with a major in communication.

The degrees are non-thesis; instead there is a comprehensive exam towards the end of the degree. Classes are offered on a two-weekend format, and applications are taken continuously throughout the year. To be qualified for admission, student must possess a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; no GRE score is required for admission. - Upper Iowa University

Terms start every eight weeks with classes at the Harry S Truman Education Center, online, or through our independent study program. Our programs at Fort Sill can lead to an associates in arts degree in liberal arts or business, a bachelors of science degree in social science, public administration (general emphasis), law enforcement,fire science or business human resource management. - Webster University

Webster is a military-friendly institution with more than 30 years of experience educating soldiers. Located at 43 of the largest military installations in the country, we offer degree programs that can be completed in the classroom, online or through a combination of both.

Degree programs offered at Fort Sill include masters of business administration, masters in arts in human resources management, information technology management, and management & leadership.

- Wayland Wayland Baptist University

Wayland Wayland Baptist University is the oldest university in continuous existence on the High Plains of Texas. Wayland began in 1908 as the dream of pioneers who respected the life-altering value of education. Classes began in September 1910. Its main campus is located in Plainview, Texas. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges, with 13 external campuses in six states and Kenya, Africa. There are over 6,000 students enrolled in the Wayland system. It is the fourth largest Southern Baptist university. The average age of a student enrolled at a WBU external campus is 37. The teaching site started at Fort. Sill in summer 2010. There are four eleven-week terms each year.

Wayland's degree programs at Fort Sill are: masters of arts in counseling, masters in public administration and masters of arts in history.

- Requesting any voluntary education program or service starts by seeing one of ours counselors. Call 580-442-3201 to schedule an appointment. Appointments are available Monday through Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Counselors are located in Truman Education Center, 3281 Sheridan Road. They will provide advisement and assistance for:

- Testing Services

Testing Services
Service members wishing to take Army personnel tests or Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education (DANTES) tests must first see the test control officer at the education center to verify eligibility and obtain a test referral. Testing is administered by appointment only, Monday through Thursday with priority to national test dates.

GT Improvement
Take a test to assess your strengths and weaknesses.

Subject to the availability of funds, on-duty BSEP classes are offered Mon-Thu, 8:30-11:30 a.m. Classes are open-entry and self-paced. See the BSEP coordinator for enrollment information.

Following successful completion of courses, take the GT predictor test. Scores of 100 of higher qualify to be scheduled for the Armed Forces Classification Test. Those scoring less than 100 will need to consult withthe BSEP coordinator for further advisement.
EDUCATION INFORMATION

Free evening classes for soldiers and adult family members are available through the Lawton Public Schools Center for Adult and Community Education.

Pre-GED and GED review and English as a Second Language (Beginning and Intermediate)

An adult high school degree completion program is offered for a nominal fee. Eligible soldiers must see a counselor at the Education Center, 3281 Sheridan Road, to receive 100% tuition assistance and enrollment information. Family members call 580-355-7727 for enrollment information.

Army ROTC turns college students into officers through a program that combines college courses in military science with summer training sessions. When the program is successfully completed and the student graduates, he or she can be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Army National Guard, or Army Reserve. Active duty soldiers may attend ROTC via the Chapter 16 program; transitioning soldiers may attend via the Green to Gold program or the scholarship program. Reserve components may apply under the Simultaneous Membership program (SMP). Eligible family members may also apply. Call the education center at 580-442-3201 to get the date and time of the next ROTC scholarship opportunities briefing.

The center offers computers with internet for all Active Duty, Reservists, retirees, adult family members and all DA Civilians Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

TUITION ASSISTANCE

Tuition assistance is available for eligible soldiers to cover post-secondary instruction required by the soldier’s school approved degree plan/student agreement. Currently, tuition assistance covers 100 percent of tuition costs up to $250 per semester hour, and all fees, with a maximum yearly amount capped at $4,500. In order to receive tuition assistance, soldiers must see a counselor at the Army Education Center prior to course enrollment.
