Product Lead, Enterprise Content Collaboration and Messaging (EC2M)


Mr. Sergio Alvarez

Sergio Alvarez is the Product Lead (PL) for Enterprise Content Collaboration and Messaging (EC2M). In this capacity he is responsible for leading EC2M’s mission of increasing efficiencies and better aligning resources around the many projects and initiatives being managed as part of the PD ES portfolio. Aligning resources and streamlining efforts will result in reduced costs and a unified approach to communication across the Enterprise.

Prior to his appointment as PL Mr. Alvarez served as Deputy PL for EC2M from October 18, 2013 to June 18, 2016. Additionally Mr. Alvarez served as the Director for Technical Management Division (TMD) for Product Manager, Army Knowledge Online (PM AKO), from February to October 2013. During his tenure in this position he provided intranet services and single web portal to the United States Army. Services included email, directory services and portal, single sign on, blogs, file storage, instant messenger, and chat. He ensured availability was no less than 98% for members of the Active Duty, National Guard, Reserves, DA Civilian and select contractor workforce, to include select foreign nationals. From July 2011 to February 2013, Sergio was an integral part of the team supporting the Product Director, Power Projection Enablers (PM P2E). While there, he served as Assistant Product Manager (APM) for Global Mission Network/Operation Guardian Enable, a $25M project within the PM’s Portfolio, and then as TMD Chief, where he defined technological strategies and managed a team responsible for the execution of $35M in projects. Prior to joining PM P2E, Mr. Alvarez served as Services and Operations Support Branch Manager for the Program Executive Office, Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS) from June 2009 to July 2011. In this role, he was responsible for the management of IT/LAN, personnel security, facilities management, Defense Travel System and execution of an annual budget of $15M. From February 2006 to June of 2009, Mr. Alvarez served as an IT Specialist, Test and Evaluation Manager and Quality Assurance Manager in support of PEO EIS AESIP and RCAS programs. While there, he reviewed mission critical test proposals and evaluation plans to determine the impact and compatibility with system architecture and ensured compliance with DoD and Army regulations and provided oversight for testing activities – from planning to execution.
