Advanced Individual Training at the Special Operations Center of Excellence
After you complete Basic Combat Training (BCT), you're ready for the next step. Advanced Individual Training (AIT) is where you will learn the skills to perform your specific Army job.
At the U.S. Army Special Operations Center of Excellence (SOCoE), you'll receive hands-on training and field instruction to make you an expert in either Civil Affairs or Psychological Operations. More than 600 Army Reserve Soldiers report to the 1st Special Warfare Training Group (Airborne) each to year to earn their AIT diplomas, in order to successfully fill a position in one of more than 70 U.S. Army Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations Command (Airborne) units across the United States.

Visitors
Never assume that you will be able to visit a Soldier, or have a Soldier visit, without first discussing the Soldier's training schedule with him or her. Prior to planning any visit to see Soldiers attending AIT, Families should call the company barracks at (910) 432-7630 during duty hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to ensure that the Soldier will be available to visit at the requested time.
Graduation
The graduation ceremony is a fitting conclusion to 10 weeks of physically and mentally demanding training. Families and friends are encouraged to attend this event recognizing the accomplishments of the Civil Affairs and Psychological Operations specialist classes.
In general, AIT graduation ceremonies are held at 10 a.m. on the SOCoE campus - either the John F. Kennedy Auditorium or Col. Aaron Bank Hall Auditorium. Your Soldier will be the best source of information regarding specific locations and times.

When making flight reservations, please keep in mind travel time to the airports (approximately 1.5 hours to Raleigh-Durham International Airport -RDU and 35 minutes to Fayetteville Regional Airport -FAY).
