Medical Coding Program Office

Medical Coding Program Office LogoThe Medical Coding Program Office (MCPO) was established in July 2014 with the overall purpose of centralizing medical coding across the Military Health System (MHS). Current Initiatives

Medical Coding DoD Instruction

One of MCPO’s initial undertakings has been revising and renaming DoD Instruction (DoDI) 6040.42 – “Management Standards for Medical Coding of DoD Health Records” to develop an MHS enterprise-wide policy framework that centralizes oversight, standardizes operations, and ensures quality and performance of MHS-wide medical coding operations. The DODI 6040.42 was completed and was published on 8 June 2016.  Please review the paragraph below "Standards  for Coding Health Records" as it contains a link to the DODI.
